Q: Do you only repair climbing shoes?
A: No. Berkeley Resole is a regular shoe repair service and works on many kinds of shoes, boots, and sandals. In addition to other repairs we can replace and reinforce worn heels on men’s and women’s shoes, attach protective rubber soles on leather soled shoes, and we can repair many leather goods (handbags, belts, jackets).
Q: How long before I get my shoes back?
A: Most repairs are completed in a week. We try to work with customers to make sure shoes are ready for special events or trips. There is a $10 charge for rush work.
Q: I notice the guitars in your workshop, do you play?
A: I have always kept guitars in my workshop. I find that I am able to bring more of myself into my work when I can use music to access different, important states of mind, and break out of muntal and physical ruts. Therefore I have meditative, and creative musical breaks throughout my day. I notice my repair work benefits form the creativity and concentration fostered in this environment.
Q: How long have you been here?
A: I have been in this space for almost fifteen years.
Q: Fifteen years?!
A: For most of that time I was the shoe repair department for Marmot Mountain Works in the building next door. When Marmot closed in March 2012 I purchased my equipment and began working as Berkeley Resole.
